Hanging out in the new Crib

Since we moved in we have had a lot of friends and family come over to check out the new house, give baby Ellie a squeeze, and just visit! Our new house is much closer to this awesome family...

My awesome sister and adorable Sammy have been over for a few playdates already. This picture was taken when everyone came over for dinner a few Sundays ago. Sammy and Bradley were sitting at the island putting sprinkles on their ice cream. Oh fun summer times!!

Right before we left for the beach my best friend from high school came down to visit!!  Janna has a gorgeous son TJ, that I just love!  I so wish we lived closer, and could do more "mommy" things together.  It is so amazing to see how much our lives have changed in the past few years.  Janna lived with me when I met Chris and we started dating.  And now here we are with three kids between the two of us and still we can chat, laugh and eat ice cream like we just saw each other last week.  Gotta love good friends!!

Janna and TJ posing for a picture!

Our attempt to get a photo of TJ and Ellie

TJ standing up for the first time at our house!!  Go TJ!!

TJ was in love with Bradley and all of his toys!  Bradley actually did really well sharing with him and being patient.  I quickly learned how many things that Bradley plays with that have little choking pieces!  We are going to have to come up with some toy rules once Ellie gets mobile!

We also have had Ellie's Godparents, Trent and Debbie, our close friends over for dinner at the new house. Debbie got some much needed baby time with Ellie...

Another wonderful friend Katie came over for a play date with her two boys...Pierce and Reid.  I attempted to get some pictures, but Katie and I were so busy talking and catching up that I only got a picture of Reid.  Isn't he so cute with those blue eyes?

It is so nice to have a great place to entertain, and have friends over again!  The basement is the perfect place to hang out with the kids, and I just love having our own place to call home.

Flying Superman, Not So Much?!

Lately Bradley has taken to swinging on his belly at the playground. He insists that he is "superman" and that it is the best way to swing until this happened...

I must say that this really is our first true major boo-boo!!!  Poor little man bit it HARD last week while swinging on his belly.  He was definitely traumatized, but seems to be healing just fine.  After a few days of band-aids and 8-hour cream he looks a lot better.  He is now very proud of his scabby face.  Often smiling when he tells people that he fell while he was swinging.  I just hated sending him into school on Friday looking like the most neglectful mother on the planet...

And the Little One Said, Roll Over, Roll Over

This little bundle of cuteness has learned a new trick....you guessed it, she is rolling over!!  I put her to bed on Tuesday night, and I heard a lot of fussing (which often isn't unusual for her).  But, then the cries started to sound like panic, so I switched on the monitor and couldn't believe my eyes.  She was on her belly in the crib having an absolute meltdown.  She was screaming, "Help, I've rolled over and I can't get back!!!!"  So I quickly went upstairs and put Ellie back on her side and she went right to sleep.  But I woke up to her fussing at six in the morning, and there she was right back on her belly.

Almost as if on cue, I brought her downstairs and this is what she did the second I placed her on the floor.  It was like she wanted to show me..."Look what I learned how to do last night Mommy!!!!"  The picture above is Ellie thinking about rolling then....

Ok, I am going to do it!

Here I go!!

This is so hard!!!

Yes, I did it again!!!

I am so smart and awesome!!!  Look at me everyone!!!

I agree Ellie, you are so smart little girl!!  So every nap and at night she has rolled right onto her belly and fallen fast asleep.  I guess we have a little tummy sleeper now!

I haven't wanted to jinx it, so I haven't blogged much about our awesome nap trend we have going on.  But, I think we have completely turned the corner with naps.  For this entire week Ellie has started feeding every 3 1/2 to 4 hours, and taking HUGE naps.  I am talking HUGE long naps that just make Mommy happy.

Yesterday she woke up at 7:30, had a morning nap from 9:30-11:45, and an afternoon nap from 1:15-3:15, and then a late evening nap from 4:30-5:15.  I cannot believe that we are actually here with sleep.  It feels amazing!  When Bradley was at school I was able to do my weight routine, clean and vacuum the basement, and take a shower before she started waking up.  It was great!

She is officially five months old and doing something new every day.  Time is flying by all of the sudden with her!  So proud of you little rolly polly baby girl!

Naptime Novels

I can't believe that I actually started blogging almost three years ago!!!! And I am quickly approaching my 300th post, which is even more crazy. Who knew I would have so much to talk about??! Ha, anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE to talk. I will tell you my entire life story if you give me the chance. I love to talk on the phone (although I hardly have time anymore), in the car, to people at the grocery store. Seriously it is no wonder that I have loved sharing our stories through this blog.

Well, I actually started blogging thinking that I would write about "diapers" a.k.a. Bradley, who was a toddler at the time and "designs" a.k.a. my at home job as a Stampin' Up representative. Three years later, I have found that I talk a lot more about the "diapers" around the house...which Bradley isn't even wearing anymore and very little about my cards. I decided to stop being a Stampin' Up representative last summer when we were trying to get pregnant. I still make cards, but I just haven't put them on the blog.

Sooooo, that leads me to re-naming my blog. I have been wanting to change it for a while. After a million name ideas between Chris and I...many of which I loved, but they weren't available on blogger. I chose "Naptime Novels." If anyone knows me they know that I LOVE naptime. I am a HUGE fan of naptime. I come home early from events to make sure my kids get naptime. Pretty much since I had Bradley my days have revolved around naptime. Now he doesn't nap too often anymore, but he still has quiet time in his room every day for 2 hours. I know, it is a long time. But, he needs it as much as I do. He reads, plays, relaxes, and sometimes he even falls asleep still. Ellie is just starting this journey with naptime. In the past few days she has started to take wonderful naps, not just lots of little catnaps throughout the day. I am talking over 2+ hour naps. I am talking she wakes up happy and cooing. I am talking one happy mama naps!!

Naptime Novels it is! Most of my blogging is usually done during naptime. Most of my sanity comes from naptime each day. Part of that sanity is blogging, and sharing a little piece of our journey with you.

I hope you will update your reader, follow me, and see where naptime leads us!

Date Night

I got to have date night with the sweetest little man in the whole world!! Last week Bradley I headed out to see Curious George Live!! Chris got some Ellie time, and even put her to bed (this was the first time not getting nursed before bed...remember she HATES the bottle...but she did it!!)

We went to dinner together too! The first vote was for "Five Guys." An absolute favorite of Bradley's. He loves their peanuts and grilled cheese sandwiches. But then he said he wanted a quesadilla, which was fine by me!! So we headed out to Chipolte for some some yummy food before the show. It was nice to have some one on one time with him, and I hope we get to do it more often now that Ellie is a little bit more predictable.

The show was really cute, and Bradley seemed really into it. The stage and costumes were great, and the actors were pretty good. When we got in the car to come home he told me, "Mommy, that was GREAT!" Gotta love it!

I think he was equally in love with his light up George spinner. He turned it on during the whole show, and has played with it every day since then....

Thanks for a great date night Bradley! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night!

Time Flies By

In the beginning of the summer I was so overwhelmed...a move ahead, a new baby, and a three year old. I was worried how I was going to make it through the whole summer keeping Bradley entertained and ellie content and unpack a new house. I made it through and the three of us actually got into a wonderful rythm during the week.

Last week we went to the library together and had such a great time. After we got home, had lunch, and let Ellie nap, Bradley asked to read his books. We sat on the couch together while I read EVERY single library book to him. He was scared of the foxes, laughed at the funny jokes, and talked about the dinosaur book. I have dreamed of these moments with him. Mommy reading to my sweet little boy, and just enjoying each other. I can truly say that I am totally in love with this little man. I love the little boy he is becoming. He is kind and gentle with his sister, but still loves to run around and have fun.

This morning I sent Bradley off for his first day of three day a week preschool! I can't believe the summer has ended and my little boy is going to preschool again! We had open house on Friday afternoon and Bradley was extremely shy and nervous. He is becoming more and more like me as he grows! I was such a quiet and nervous little kid. But, after giving his sweet teacher, Miss Ashley, a high five everything turned around. He started to tell her about our trip to the beach and his little sister Ellie. We played outside, and just had a great time after he warmed up.

I hope all goes well today on his first day. Here he is with his "pirate" bookbag. OK, so it is a little much with the skulls, but he insisted that it was pirates and I couldn't talk him out of it. Some things just aren't worth the battle.

I am actually looking forward to more of a routine to our week and schedule. This morning I fed Ellie at six, went for a long run, got Bradley ready for school and already uploaded the pictures. I guess I am trying to start off on the right foot! Here is Bradley's "All About Me" poster that we worked on yesterday. He is supposed to show it at circle time this week. So cute!

His cubby all set for school...sniff, sniff;)

Four Months Plus...

Seriously I need to get my act together with posting about this growing baby girl!! She will actually be five months on Wednesday the 25th...

I cannot get over this baby's adorable face! She is definitely filling out, and her little cheeks and arms are to die for. She has rolls EVERYWHERE!!! I could just eat them up with a spoon!
The drooling has recently started, and it is so funny! She is blowing bubbles, babbling, shrieking, and just making new noises almost every single day. Bradley seems to get the most noises out of her. She will giggle for him and talk to him the most. It is adorable! Tummy time is getting better, and she can roll from her belly to her back really easily now. She is no where close to sitting up on her own, although Bradley was doing it at this age. It is amazing how different they all are!

I bought her a "Sophie" giraffe!!! It is an older toy that has made a huge comeback. It is made of all natural rubber, and it perfect for chewing and teething little babies. I brought it home, and the babysitter said, "Oh, it is a dog toy for babies!" Why yes, a $25 dog toy for my sweet Ellie! She actually really likes it. She will chew away on the legs and get drool all over the place! Everything you hand her goes straight into her mouth.

I feel like every day she is learning something new, growing out of her clothes, or babbling a new sound. It is happening so fast, and it is so hard to keep up with her. I recently bought her this little toy for tummy and floor time. It rolls too, so it is perfect for when they start to crawl around. She LOVED it the second I brought it home. I haven't really gotten her much besides clothing, so it is nice to have a new toy that is just Ellie's.

Here she is rolling on her side to get the little bug and make the music play.

Look at that grip, this child will hold onto anything! Including my hair at 4 in the morning when I am feeding her, ouch!

She is SO close to rolling all the way over, BUT

this is as far as she will go! She actually has started sleeping on her side for most of her naps and at night. I lay her down on her back, but she usually rolls onto her side and sleeps away. I am ready for her to start rolling completely. No more laying her down anywhere...we will have to be careful where we put her!

Not much has changed with her feeding and napping schedule. Right now I am still feeding her every three hours. She is definitely growing, A LOT! She is currently wearing 9 month clothing if it is one piece and six month clothing if it has separates. I know I started to transition Bradley to every four hours around this age, but I don't think she is ready quite yet. She has done some 3 1/2 hour stretches during the day, but that is it. Napping is still hit or miss. I keep telling myself that it will fall into place here soon. She puts herself to sleep in an instant, but will sometimes only nap for 45 minutes. So frustrating! I have gotten some 1 1/2 hour to 2+ hour naps in the past two weeks, so I think they are on the horizon. Just recently I have started to let her cry if she wakes up after 45 minutes, and she will sometimes go back to sleep. Hopefully we will be doing three solid naps a day soon!

She is still doing GREAT at night! She was amazing at the beach, and has slept some 12 hour stretches at night. Most nights she sleeps from 7 until 4 or 5 am. I will nurse her at 4 or 5 and she will often sleep until 7:30 or later. I will usually wake her up by 7:30, just so I can start the day at the same time and get all of her feedings in. She is doing awesome with taking a bottle now. She recently started taking 7 1/2 ounces from the babysitter.

I feel like I have come into a wonderful time with Ellie. Bradley is doing so great with her, and she is just a lot of fun to have around the house. She LOVES to go for walks, and we have been walking in the stroller almost every day if it isn't too hot. Bradley starts school next week, so it will be great to have some one on one time with her in the mornings.

I love you sweet, sweet girl!!!
