Home Sweet Home

DSC_0393

Tomorrow we will be in our new house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally took this picture on Thursday. This was as close as I could get to the house with my car because there were so many people working in front of it. There are still a lot of lose ends that Chris is frantically trying to tie up today and Tuesday morning. He is amazing! The sod gets laid today and the cleaners are coming through today and tomorrow morning before we arrive with the moving van. Talk about timing!

I am beyond excited and a bit nervous about getting everything done between now and then. The rental house is mostly packed. We still have a few items in the master bedroom to go through and the wardrobe boxes to fill up. Bradley is staying with his Grandma until the first part of the move is finished.

The movers will move us out of the townhouse tomorrow. On Thursday they are going to bring all of our items from storage (over 500 things!). I'm not sure where everything is going, but we will figure it out. Chris and I spent most of Sunday at the new house. We took over all of the kitchen items we had at the townhouse. I cleaned out all of the cabinets and put everything away. We brought the pack n' play and Ellie took a nap in her new house! Chris ran around like a mad man and hung up all of the blinds in the bedrooms upstairs. We even got all of Ellie's curtains hung. I didn't bring my camera, but pictures will be coming soon!

Here are some photos I took on Thursday morning. For some reason my flash didn't work very well.

And just for fun....

Little Ellie in her brother's pirate hat! She was hamming it up for the camera! I need to sit down and do a three month post on Ellie. I can't believe she is three months!

I didn't blog much last week because I think I was on the verge of a breakdown with her. She caught another cold and had Chris and I up from 1am till sometimes 4am on and off for over six nights. It was terrible. Once she was feeling better she was still sleeping horribly. So, last Wednesday I had a breakdown and a breakthrough with her. I will fill you in soon about "The Death of the Swaddle" at our house. We have made it through on the other side, but I wasn't sure we were going to survive!

Almost Complete

We are almost ready to move in!! This weekend was spent packing, ordering blinds and shades, and taking care of a sick and cranky baby. Poor Ellie already got her second cold last week. It has made for one tired mommy and daddy, and one super cranky baby. She had runny, swollen eyes and a runny nose and a cough that kept her up all night. Poor thing!

Bradley and I ran some errands on Saturday, and got some yummy goodies for Father's Day dinner. Then we stopped by the house to check it out! It has been completely cleaned and the carpet has been installed since I took these photos...

Play Date with My Little Boy

DSC_0367
I know I have written about my struggles between balancing two children. It has definitely been an adjustment over the past twelve weeks. Bradley has been so great about it all! He takes it in stride if we have to leave early from the pool or the park. He really is such a good sport about listening to horribly long screaming sessions in the car.

This week we started a new babysitter at the house. She had been watching twin three month olds...so I guess Ellie is a breeze! We did a trial run on Tuesday, and Ms. Leah watched Ellie while I took Bradley to the Little Gym. That went great, so today we had our first play date just the two of us in three months! We have run little errands here and there while Chris watches Ellie, but this was special.

DSC_0327

This was the NEW sprinkler park. This was just Mommy and Bradley. He was SO excited!!! He woke up and ran into my room to ask me if we were still going to the sprinkler park. Then he said, "Ms. Leah is coming to watch Ellie, right?" It melted my heart! I am sure he just wanted to get out of the house without a baby in tow, but I took it that he just wanted to spend time with me...

DSC_0328

We met our friends and played and played!! No nursing in the hot sun while Ellie sweated to death. No having to ask friends to take my son to the bathroom because Ellie was crying or hungry. Just us. And I must say it was nice. So, Ms. Leah will be coming twice a week. To watch sweet Ellie, and let her chill out in the air conditioning. While Mommy and Bradley head out for some more special play dates together. I actually had time to snap some photos of the kids playing in the park...

Moving, Chaos, Sickness...not sure what else to cram in this blog title?

DSC_0189

I love this photo of Ellie!! I swear she is sticking her tongue out at me saying, "Ha Ha Mommy, you thought you were clean and organized with one child..."

I used to completely pride myself in my orderly, clean home. I LOVE neatness!! I was one of those teachers that couldn't leave my classroom until my classroom bookshelf was organized and books were in the correct baskets. I know, I know, I have a problem.

Well, life with two children has challenged me in more ways that I had thought. One of those is being clean and organized. I walk into the bathroom to find old pee-pee from Bradley in his little potty...ewwww! I used to always follow him in and clean it up right away. Now I couldn't even tell you when he went to the potty. He was leaving for his first day of camp this morning. I didn't even have is back pack ready. I had to look in the file cabinet for the directions about what to bring. They have a pool there for the kids to play in during camp (cool, right?). I sent him without a towel!! He told me he needed one when I picked him up today, oops! There are so many examples like this throughout the week. I swear I lost my mind! Just like in my last post, I said Ellie was 12 weeks. No, she doesn't turn 12 weeks until this Thursday. Poor second child;)

Cooking has become quick and interesting. No more meals with lots of ingredients or prep time involved. I still write down our meals, but I now have to order everything online. You couldn't pay me to drag this two kids to the grocery store right now...even though I LOVE grocery shopping and cooking. I know, I know...another problem!

We are living in complete chaos and I just have to roll with it! We are moving in TWO weeks. This is what my guest bedroom/office looks like right now as I take the time to blog...

DSC_0305-1

I should probably be packing, or washing Ellie's car seat carrier which is covered in another round of poop explosion from today. When we were picking up Bradley from his first day at camp today, she decided to have a huge poop that shot up her back and all over the car seat! *sigh*

DSC_0304-1

This is the other view of my office...new bar stools for the kitchen island...a huge box that has baskets for the shelving in the kitchen...new bedding for our room (thanks mom!!)...Ellie's curtains pulled out so I could match the paint samples...oh, and a gift for Ellie from gap kids that doesn't fit that I need to return (ummm, when?). I am just closing my eyes and picturing my new clean house completely unpacked and chaos free, ahhhhhh!

Just to top things off, last Thursday night I woke up with a round of mastitis. I have been trying to figure out how I got it. After doing a little bit of research I think it might be from doing the rowing machine at the gym. I found that there can be a lot of links between upper body exercise and mastitis. Anyone heard of this? I am just trying to figure it out so that I don't have that happen again! Yuck!

After some antibiotics I was finally feeling better this weekend.

In fun news, I have a bunch of pictures of the new house that I will share this week!

It is almost done!!!!

Trials of Two

DSC_0277

My plate has felt full these past few weeks...actually overflowing. There are some amazingly sweet moments, and some days when I just want to cry from exhaustion. Ellie will be 12 weeks on Thursday! Time is flying by with this little lady!

In the past few weeks she has really started to figure out her night time sleep. This has been a blessing, since some days can seem long. I feed her about every three hours during the day, so five times. Then she will do one feeding during the night. This feeding can happen between 1am and 3am, it still varies. She is usually up in the morning at 6:30 or 7.

Her day time sleep is still very unorganized, and is getting shorter each week. I can hardly get her to sleep longer than an hour in her crib during the day, sometimes it is only 45 minutes. This can be tricky, because she will often be awake long before it is time to eat again. I really want her to be on an eat, play, sleep cycle so that she can learn to put herself to sleep on her own. Often times I will put her in the swing or the bouncy seat for the second half of her nap until it is time to eat again. I feel like a lot of my day is spent getting her to sleep or worrying about her schedule. I remember this with Bradley, but it still is hard! I cannot wait for more of a morning and afternoon nap schedule, but we have probably two or more months before that happens.

She has made a lot of progress in sleeping on her own. She loves to be swaddled, and now loves her pacifier. She can get herself to sleep with just a minimal amount of fussing and that is good! The problem is the second child syndrome. Usually her schedule gets thrown WAY off because we are out during the day. She always takes her first nap in her crib, but once she wakes up she is usually sleeping in her car seat while we do things out of the house.

Yesterday she slept for a while in her car seat while we went to run some errands. The last place was the grocery store to pick up food I ordered online. Well, she woke up early and we were waiting in the parking lot to get our food. She screamed so loud, and I was out of the car trying to calm her down. A lady walked by and said, "Don't worry I've been there." Ummmmm, embarrassing! After a screaming session on the way home I lifted her out of her seat to find poop all over her car seat and all over her. It was EVERYWHERE! Bradley hadn't had lunch and was saying he was hungry. It was time for her to eat too, etc. etc. I got everyone fed and down for naps and I hadn't eaten myself. Such is life with a newborn in the house, but I definitely feel exhausted at the end of the day---especially after taking apart the car seat and doing tons of laundry to clean up the poop explosion.

DSC_0281

I have been working so hard to establish a bed time routine and get her in bed by 7. She is totally exhausted at the end of the day, but we still have a bit of a witching hour. Some nights it lasts from 7 till 8, and sometimes it can stretch on until 9 or 10. Once we get her to sleep she is down for the night, and will not wake me up until later. But, those few hours can be tough. Just a few weeks ago we were still putting her in the swing to sooth her, but Chris and I have decided to just put her in her crib. We will go to her every 10 or so minutes to sooth her and give her a pacifier. We will have some great nights when she will hardly fuss, and then last night she didn't fall asleep until 8:45. We didn't have this with Bradley. He definitely had a witching hour, but it was earlier in the evening. Hopefully in a few weeks it will be gone and we can enjoy a peaceful bed time routine around here.

DSC_0250

I just look at her little face and smile!! She is really so content during the day, other than freak moments in the car seat! I was singing to her yesterday and I swear I heard her first little laugh. Those are the moments that melt your heart.

This is just still a learning process for me. Having two children and trying to meet every one's needs. We will find our rhythm soon, and Ellie won't need as much sleep. It is just a balance, and I haven't quite evened the scales yet. When I feel like I am doing something fun for Bradley, I totally mess up Ellie or the other way around. I have to keep telling myself that we will get there, each day is a little bit better than the last. I just wanted to remind myself of these crazy days!

DSC_0204

Then you have an impromptu photo shoot before The Little Gym, and you get this awesome picture! These two are so cute I can hardly stand it! It is worth all of the poop and madness!

In Four Weeks I Will...

Be sleeping in my NEW HOUSE!!!!!

Wow! First, I cannot believe how FAST our house has been built! Chris is amazing, and I cannot begin to thank him for all of his hard work to get us in our new home. Did you know that he poured the foundation when Ellie was born...umm that is FAST!?!!

For the past two months after we got Bradley in bed, we have been finalizing everything for the house...and dealing with Ellie. Picking light fixtures, fans, countertops, mantles, etc. etc. There are so many decisions to make. I am partly worried that I made a lot of them on very little sleep, but hopefully the house will come together nicely. At the moment I just have to finalize the blinds for the first floor, pick our fans, and decide on the paint colors. Oh picking paint is SO hard. I really stress about this part. I am probably going to use some of the same colors from our last house. But, I may switch it up, who knows!

Luckily the evenings are getting easier around here, and hopefully just in time for me to do some major packing. I definitely have some major anxiety about moving with two small children. One of whom will be just barely three months old...help meeeee! My Mom has offered to watch Bradley, and I will just have to figure out how to deal with Ellie and the movers. hmmmm?

Although most of our stuff is in storage. We still have an entire four bedroom town house packed to the rim with stuff. I am going to be very busy in the next few weeks and weekends getting ready. But, this time the move it also so exciting. We have a brand new house to move into. A great neighborhood, a pool, a gym down the street, a fishing pond, soccer fields, a golf course, an awesome elementary school that backs up to the neighborhood. Along with the middle school and high school that is across the street from the main entrance. Let's just say I am so happy about that. I'm not sure how Bradley and Ellie will feel when they are 15, but mama will love it!

Here are some pictures of the house. I took them over a few weekends, so they show a lot of new changes! The pictures are really cool to see how much has been done in just a few weeks time...
