Every Cowboy Needs a Horse...

cowboy smile
This little cowboy had the time of his life at some local horse races the other weekend.  We got to go to Foxfield Races this year.  Usually the races fall during the "Parade of Homes" for Chris, but this year the Parade was pushed into October.  Cali and Rick got us a spot close to the action, everyone brought yummy food, and we hung out!  This is a family day at the horse races, so there was tons of stuff for the kiddos to do.  Including riding awesome ponies.  By the way, as cute as the pictures are I always feel really sorry for animals at stuff like this.  Isn't it kind of sad to watch them walk in a circle for hours on end?  At least Bradley seemed to totally enjoy it!

I was able to get some sweet pictures of the kids hanging out and waiting for the races.  It was a cloudy day, and we got sprinkled on a few times.  Here is sweet Margaret...

And Waylon and Larken

The hubby and I hanging out by the tents

Of course the glorious pony rides that we waited in line for almost an hour to do...

Here is the horse coming by to announce the start of the races, isn't it beautiful?

watching the race

I attempted a bunch of times to get a shot of the horses riding by, it was so hard.  They were going so quick.  So, I set my camera to the sports setting, and I actually got this amazing shot!

Any horse race wouldn't be complete without some sand art, right?

Love the cowboy pics! My son is 14, but some of my favorite pics of him that I still have up in our hallway at home are of him when he was around five years old dressed up in his cowboy boots and hat!

#1. oh, is like a national holiday in our house. dan actually wants to skip reunions (10 years - yikes!) this year because he'd rather go to foxfield!

#2. looks like fall family day is a lot more tame than the spring event.

#3. those pics are awesome. which lens were you using? i'm thinking of getting a new one for xmas...

#4. i heart your town! how lucky your kids get to grow up there!!
