We have been stuck inside with lots of snow and ice. I really didn't want Bradley to be watching "George" all day, so I looked up some games and got creative.
We played "hide the duck" for a good 30 minutes. I hid one of his rubber duckies under a cup. He would try to guess which cup was hiding duckie. Even when he got it wrong, and finally figured it out he loved this game!
Then we played, "Guess what is in the bag?" for a long time too! I would hide different things inside of the pillow case and he would reach his hand inside and try and guess what it was. He would just squeel when we pulled the item out. It almost made the toys more exciting too, because then he just wanted to play with them.
These are some of the pictures I captured when we were "Dancing" as Bradley would say. It is amazing how much fun a few scarves and some Raffi can be?? It also got Bradley running around the house. When he was ready for his nap, we walked past the pile of scarves and he said, "Night-night dance." It was the cutest thing ever!!
Just so you can get the full effect, this is really what scarf dancing looked like in person!
I admit it, I don't like to get out the paint and make a mess. Even all of the early childhood knowledge in me, and I still haven't pulled out the finger paints that have been in the cabinet since Bradley was 10 months old. I figured, today was the day! We stripped down, pulled out huge pieces of paper and went to town. After a few masterpieces were completed he started painting himself. I think he thought that was more fun than actual painting.
After all of the painting we took a long bath in mommy and daddy's BIG tub. It was a fun morning for both of us!
I will confess that it is hard for me to forget about all of the chores and just play sometimes. So, it was just nice to hang out and not worry about the list of things that need to be done. I will keep working on letting some stuff go, because these moments are so special!

Well, this weekend was another surreal moment in the time of growing up. I drove up to my Grandparent's home on Saturday to help sale the last remaining items of their life. Most of the family heirlooms and sentimental items have been divided between my mom, sister, and I. But, there are always the things that are left over.
So, my parents worked tirelessly to organize, clean up, and prepare the house for the final sale. It was heart wrenching to walk through the nearly vacant home. The rooms sounded too big from the lack of rugs and furniture. It almost seemed like all of the memories were disappearing with all of the stuff. It is a beautiful ranch style house on 5 acres of rolling hills. As I walked to the back of the house I was overcome with memories and loss. My Grandmother is still living, and luckily she is in a place close to us. They built that house 30 years ago, and I only remember visiting them there. I looked out the window and remembered the countless hours we played in the lawn, swung on the swing set, or helped them in their beautiful garden.
It was definitely a hard situation. The hardest part was watching people pick through all of the items. I have had yard sales before, I have been to yard sales, but this just seemed different. Moments like this make me realize that you just don't take any of the material things with you. The only things that remain are the wonderful memories from your family. Knowing that they will carry on your traditions and love through their own children. I am growing up, I am a mother, wife, and I have my own family. Life keeps going by more and more quickly. Hug the ones you love tightly tonight.

This child is always finding ways to make me smile!
He got a Mr. Potato Head for his birthday, and has loved putting him together. This week Chris put the lips on and was giving Bradley a kiss. He wanted to be just like Daddy, and Bradley started copying him. Gotta love 2 year olds!

"We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."
~ Barack Obama, Ingauration Speech
I wanted to be able to tell you when you are older that you watched history happen. We rushed home from preschool, we practiced the word President, we ate popcorn and you watched. You watched history, a changing nation, and equal rights for every man realized on January 20, 2008. This will be a wonderful generation to grow up in, my little Bradley. Hopefully a place where dreams can come true no matter your creed, color of your skin, or your social standing. Your generation will make this world a better place. Events like today prove that anything is possible.

Then if you aren't careful you will find yourself covered with stickers too. My parents came over the other night and Chris had about 5 stickers on his face. He had totally forgotten about them, until my parents looked at him in confusion. Oh, the things we will do to make our kids happy!
Have a great Monday!

Thousand Word Thursday!! I want to get back into blogging more often, and I haven't done a picture post in a while. These are some shots from my parents' house New Year's Day. We had to watch Bradley every second because he kept trying to take of his shoes and jump in!!
I am working on one of my goals for 2009, and I have dived into digital scrapbooking. I was thinking the best way to get started would be to change up my blog look on my own. I have been depending on my darling sister to update my blog every so often, and now it is time for me to go it alone. I just whipped this up this afternoon!!! I am so proud of myself! I really wanted to do a snowy scene with the pictures from our weekend last weekend, and I like the way it turned out. I even created new buttons for my sidebar! What do you think??

After a wonderful weekend away (he slept like a dream while we were gone) he decided not to nap on Sunday. By 5:00pm he was wondering around the house, crying over everything, and just plain hard to be around. He totally lost it at about 5:30, and was in bed until 7 the next morning. So you see, we just aren't ready to kick the old nap to the curb. Don't even get me started on how much I still want him to nap...but that is another issue!
Yesterday...no nap, AGAIN!! I couldn't believe it, so we were headed to visit my friend Jen's precious new baby Campbell. Bradley pretty much slept the entire trip over, and was not the most pleasent child once we got there. (see above picture for details:)
I know this isn't too exciting to read about, but it is what's going on over here!

Of course I went totally overboard with the photos. You would of thought we were in the snow from morning to night. But, we were really only at the kiddie park for a few hours total. I was just so excited to see Bradley all bundled up in snow bibs and boots. Here are some of my favorites!
Chloe all bundled up! Bradley was a little more adventuresome than Chloe. We kept asking her to ride in the tube with Bradley. She would say, 'tube scary.' Too funny!
Around and around in the tube carousel
PS It is amazing the difference in these photos (that are much better on my computer) than my pictures from the last post. I put all of my last pictures up on flickr, and then used the code to post them. I uploaded all of these photos directly into blogger. When I tried to upload them into flickr it told me they were too big, and I would have to pay a fee. I didn't feel like doing that, but I wish you could see the photos more clearly. Does anyone have any other photo sharing sites that they use? I have an account with photobucket, but I have had problems with my photos being HUGE when I use them. Maybe it is me?
